new events for 2016
I'm thrilled to have been asked to teach at the University of Nottingham Museum next April. I will be presenting a brand new workshop which will introduce students to natural fabric dyeing.
As I've been promising a workshop in my local area for a long time now I've decided to run the same event in Hoylake (near Liverpool) next March.
The workshops will offer a comprehensive introduction to natural fabric dyeing, discovering sustainable ways to colour and pattern textiles using heritage dye plants with traditional shibori resist techniques.

We will investigate the history of this ancient craft considering aesthetic uses, healing properties and importance of natural dye options in light of the environmental damage currently caused by the textiles/fashion industry.
You will create your own reference samples in a spectrum of colours from just three botanical dyes before using your skills to pattern a silk/wool scarf to take away with you.
Bring along an item of clothing (e.g. T shirt) to upcycle or revive with natural colours.
